If i made this salary 10 years ago i would be very satisfied. Unfortunately the buying power isn’t there

I spent 7 years as an immunology scientist, literally reporting patient results and directly impacting patient care. Now, I’m in clinical project management earning almost twice as much—despite my work being more of an indirect impact. Do I think that makes sense? Not really. Am I going to take full advantage of it? Absolutely

Starting my own business related to my hobby (completely unrelated to the career I went to school for) was the best move I've ever made. Even though I work harder than I ever have before (physically and mentally), it feels good that I am in control of my destiny. Finances are "ok for now".

I wanna really say, "It's OK for now" and "job hunting ASAP", cuz I hate my job so much even though I need it til I get to a better place.

It’s a bit of a paradox for me. I feel like for the amount of effort for my current job the pay is good but I know I can earn way more with a new job but there is a huge risk of higher stress levels, burnout, and a toxic work environment for jobs that pay more!

Im 19 and a student and I am currently job hunting, I always watch finance guys like this, and save every dime I get. Everything will just get more expensive and you have to start really young now adays to have a similar retirement as a guy who started at 35, 20 years ago..

As an engineer, my goal has always been to document all my projects in respect to earning the company money. This ratio should be at least 3X. I've never had a problem finding work, at increasingly higher salaries.

50k but I live in state where cost of living isn't crazy. House payment is $1100, got a 6 month emergency fund, I'm driving a 2007 Mazda with relatively low miles for it's age. (145k) Able to invest 20% of my paychecks. So I'm okay for now. 50k doesn't sound like a lot, but with a low cost of living Im more than comfortable as long as I can get a 3-5% raise every year

I’m 26, laid off from tech 3 times. I’ve made good money and saved well, but in the midst of a massive career shift that will start off with a pay cut by 50%. Glad I saved well, time to put my money where my mouth is

My salary is good, enough to pay rent and take some vacations. However a house payment in my area would be about 80% of my net income, so that’s nice.

I just got a job working at a warehouse it’s nothing crazy but since I love to bust my ass I atleast get rewarded for the effort I do put it. It’s very addictive. I need to learn some skills and build something extra for myself. Goal is to be financially free by age 30 at the latest. Im soon to be 23 so got 7 years

Best step was going into sales. As an SDR I’m looking to break 6 figures for the first time in my life. Never thought that was possible for myself.

Inflation has been a killer… I was getting paid pretty well in 2019, but any raises that I got from 2020 to now have still not caught me up with inflation. Sure the number is higher, but the real purchasing power is far lower

@OccasionallyWrongNeverInDoubt

The best career/salary move I made was from engineering field work to project management. I gave up over time and field pay and actually had a net reduction in pay for the first year or two - but got far better salary treatment, bonuses and opportunities for promotion and new responsibilities.

Currently job hunting and broke with no car. Thank God I got my mom (moms car needs repair) and family because I would be homeless. Jobs just don't hire at all. Currently definitely trying to get a remote job but idk...my laptop has to stay charged because it powers off at like 60 percent. I already replaced the battery months ago, should have just got a new laptop (when I was working) and not a HP laptop either.
