Relyea

I’m seeking feedback on my Silksong tutorials. Got a comment recently saying how I fell off and my new tutorials are not as good as my old HK ones.

I’m looking for any feedback or constructive criticism.

I’ve tried to take all the feedback I’ve gotten over the years and apply it to the new Silksong videos. Showing the map plenty, telling people what are the requirements before getting too far into the video, sharing tips along the way etc.

No hate to the person who posted the comment. They replied back. I think a little bit was lost in translation and they just really liked the HK tutorials as they were nostalgic. They also didn’t know I’m not a full time content creator etc. It’s all good. I just wanted to use this comment as a chance to take a step back and ask for feedback.

Im not on Silksong yet, but your content has single handedly CARRIED me thru Hollow Knight. Just over the last 2 days i was able to beat the Mantis Lords, Watcher knights, the first trial of the colosseum of fools AND Hornet 2…im positive your Silksong content will carry me just the same when i get there. Take your time and keep having fun with the game! I just lost my job and my life is a mess, all i have to look forward to right now is your guides and beating Hollow Knight. Thank you for everything Relyea.

I’ll be completely honest man, all I’ve seen is improvement over the years. You were always my go to for HK, and I came back and subscribed for the silksong content. Love and appreciate all that you have done/continue to do for the community.

It just hurts my soul to see Relyea getting hate. One of the most wholesome HK content creators, always carrying me through the first game. You‘ve been a massive help, and I‘ve also watched some of your Silksong videos after beating the game, and you used some tactics I never even thought of. It‘s a shame that you‘re receiving this type of criticism, but don‘t let it weigh you down.❤

I always hate when people leave negative comments and just say “this is bad” without providing any context. Criticism should be constructive! Don’t sweat the hateful comments man, your videos brighten a lot of peoples days!

When i first played hollow knight it was several years after the game came out so tutorials for finding things in game were all over the place and this channel was my favorite to use for that. Now having played silksong and currently just needing to beat the final boss of act 3 ive needed that less and less only needing help to find a few things that arent intuitive but never hate on someone like that. Relyeas content for it has slowed but its still quality for newer players to the game. Ive seen so many tutorial videos trying to beat everyone to the punch but miss many things or have very low quality to them so i appreciate the effort Relyea puts in even if it takes more time because hes not going to miss important info or give you weak quality

Not gonna lie, I ignored all your videos on Silksong (alongside every other content creator’s) for a bit solely because you do so well at discovery, trial and error, and establishing sound advice. Which seems like a paradoxical rationale… but I just KNEW if I gave in and tuned back into your content it’d take the fun out of experiencing the game myself first. And ya know what? I was absolutely right in my assessment - I’ve been loving Silksong so much because I’ve been struggling, talking with my friends (I’m in university and some of my colleagues and I have been experiencing the game together, giving each other tips, spoiler free live reactions to stuff, etc.), and surpassing my limits as I achieve stuff originally painted as impossible. THEN my absolute favorite part of tuning back into your content is getting either 1) confirmation that yes, X was really difficult and I’m valid in my struggles 2) shock over the unique solutions you find, and that “damn why didn’t I think of that??” thought. Makes me wanna load up a new save file, and try out your tactics and see how I can develop a speed run! The long story short is, you’re doing great. Pushing out content while maintaining work-life balance is hard, and we all heavily appreciate that you bother sharing your experience with this game we’re all discovering and enjoying in realtime with each other. It’s a unique time to be alive, so thank you for sharing this moment with us all before its year’s down the line… when all the late comers, and the “okay now that the hype’s died down, guess I’ll see what all the hype was all about” types of Silksong players come out of the woodworks

You did not fall off in any way, dude. You're the FIRST result EVERY time I look up a hollow knight tutorial for something on yt, and my ONLY choice for tutorials. Honestly, I'm surprised you used to (and still do) create easy to follow tutorials while still managing being in the Air Force Reserves and having 3 children. Respect to you, genuinely man.

Honestly just wait till it's a bit older because you have some of the newest content and most of it you'll have the same effect with hollow knight just a year or two after when more people find it especially around Christmas

Haven't started Silksong but you're Hollow Knight tutorials are the reason my experience was not completely full of pain. I just watched your tutorial on how to beat Trial of the Fool, still on it

@alliec5539

I disagree entirely with that comment, your tutorials are great! They’re quick, easy to follow, and realistic! You show yourself actually DOING the thing, and even messing up, which I greatly appreciate. Sometimes when I look up guides, these players are so perfect and fast I feel even more discouraged because the thing I felt was impossible they made look so easy. You actually play the game and include “imperfect” runs in your videos, which actually helps players like me because you explain why you might die here/there or what’s challenging about a certain spot. It feels attainable, and especially for Silksong, these tutorials are refreshing. Keep up the great work!

Your walkthrough for Widow & The Last Judge literally helped me beat them immediately after, please keep doing what you’re doing. Also I replayed Hollow Knight before Silksong and definitely used your channel to help me when I was stuck or couldn’t remember things. Keep up the good work friend! 🥰
