Honestly it's about time. Ship turrets and other weapons are just too little for the kinda of behemoths ppl have been building in this game for ages. They're not terrible but something bigger gives me lots more desire to build combat ships

I hope, if they give us new "big guns", just add to the game a good choice to defense our ships like a energy shield or something of this style

I'm looking forward to it, as someone who has played this game since it first came out, it's about damn time haha. I do however hope they're adding more then just a standalone Rail Gun for large grid. Would love to see a small grid variation (hello better Vanilla tanks) and would absolutely love to see additional turrets. Yeah, there are mods like MWI and Northwind packs, but having them in Vanilla would just be nice for a change...

Would really love some kind of custom turret support. Either a turret platform block or some method to control rotor turrets that doesn't require a complex third party script and your gyros to be off.

More excited seeing the 1.95km weapons core lock in the clip. But I do love new guns :) really hope it has sub system targeting like real weapons core mod

Being able to make a kind of rail gun turret instead of a missile one that’ll do a fraction of the damage is a great addition, maybe guided missiles and shields will come?

I say just give entirely customizable turrets, size/caliber everything. Its odd seeing massive ships with tiny main guns

I’m looking forward to it, and hopefully a few other big weapons that are mainly mods rn being brought into the main game itself. Heck I’m even hoping for something like the ship shield mod being in the next dlc since Xbox mods for shields aren’t exactly… good

As long as Space Engineers tones down the Halo 2 Jackal Sniper Accuracy. I can’t one meter into defense gun range without flatlining

It should work like in The Expanse, they got it right. Railgun's main advantage over regular cannons is muzzle velocity For example, in real life, the B.A.E. Systems Railgun can do up to 3,400 m/s point blank. They better make that railgun round very, very fast (and then set dmg accordingly - you don't want it to be OP) We don't want just a "re-skinned" rocket launcher - it has to actually do something different, like being a VERY fast projectile :)
