HII!! To fellow editors (esp. targeted to certain ones):

Can we please not use A.I. for our edits? Whether that’s in the form of generating A.I. images to use in the edit, or doing that TikTok “trend” thing where people send models of the character they’re trying to edit to A.I. to get it animated, or going as far as to try getting A.I. to create the entire edit for you. Or anything else that involves it really

First of all, I’m surprised that a lot of people still don’t know that generative (“art”) A.I. didn’t just build itself out of nowhere. It fed millions of artworks, animations, and videos from the internet without permission into the A.I. so that it could mash them up to make ugly pictures. A.I. continues to learn from everything they are provided and A.I developers continue to plagiarize. That also means if you are putting HoYoverse’s work into an A.I., you are literally feeding it to the A.I. and helping them infringe on copyright. If you feed chatGPT images of other people’s characters, it will literally store it in its system for it to learn from. That means you have just done something called indirect plagiarism!

Not only that, and this is something I recently got to learn more about, but A.I. produces a heck tone of waste and uses water to power itself. It’s nothing but a waste. Stuff along the lines of “Well, if you care about the environment so much, then why don’t you stop eating food too?” is a common response from A.I. users, but can we sit down for a moment and consider how ridiculous that sounds? Food isn’t waste if you’re eating it to sustain yourself. Food is a necessity in our lives, is generating A.I. slop a necessity? Also, eating sustainably is an option, and A.I. produces more waste than food anyway.

I will be unsubscribing from and blocking those who have used/continue to use A.I. for edits. From an editor to certain editors, editing is a form of art. Why are you trusting robots with your own creative work, helping them steal from others and contributing to destruction of the environment?
