Best Jordan Peele Movie?

@jcolbino2021

Peele does an excellent job at knowing there will be different reads and interpretations pending on the viewer's background and lived experience. Nope had so many layers to it that most reviews that I've read have failed to address.

Us is just so frustrating to me. It starts to so interesting with the family inside the house, but then we go to another house and then the whole United States is being taken over by clones. It escalates so quickly and I feel the audience gets lost in the middle. I wish I liked it more.

Get Out had the perfect blend of scares, comedy, and social commentary. The others (while still good) didn't manage to strike quite the same balance.

I have yet to watch Nope, but of others, Get Out is so memorable. I can recall back most scenes. US was good too and I remember most of it. Keanu was funny but I honestly don't remember most of the movie

I honestly find Nope way too flawed, which I hate to say. SPOILERS AHEAD At this point, I think Peele is above using corny jumpscares, yet he still has them in this movie. The scene where Yeun visits Kaluuya/Palmer’s barn didn’t make much sense to me considering they interacted beforehand, but I’m willing to let that slide. The woman working at Best Buy/Radio Shack was needlessly creepy - like that didn’t resolve or go anywhere at all. The creature was super intimidating at first, but by the end of the movie, it looked and felt more like a blimp/hot air balloon. Its presence was way more threatening before its design had that transformation. And I think the comedic relief elements of the movie were overly-present and kinda ruined the synergy of the movie a bit - like, the movie as a whole didn’t hit as hard for me despite Kaluuya and Yeun’s powerful performances, because there’s just a bit too much corniness in Palmer, the radio shack dude, and the documentary director character. I love much of the symbolism (where Peele shines a lot imo), along with the analogous elements between Yeun’s backstory and his present-day downfall and the design characteristics between the AirDancers and the beast (despite the beast’s design changing so drastically). I also loved the chapters aspect of the movie. But symbolism and tension and commentary are all so much better done in both Get Out and Us, imo. Edit: Oh and if anyone can explain the standing shoe in the chimp scene to me, that would he great. That’s one bit of symbolism I don’t understand/haven’t looked up yet.

Us still haunts me if I think about it too long. Loved Nope the most. Get out is great. Haven't heard of Keanu, so gotta watch that soon.

I'm voting for Nope, but that's also the only one of the 4 I've seen.

Us feels like a movie that was made specifically for me. Easily my favorite of his films
