Tim de Man - Game Music

The Silksong Tracks seem to be reinvigorating the channel - it's still early days, but if this keeps up the channel will be back at pre-TotK levels views-wise which would be very welcome for my motivation * :P . In any case it's been super inspiring working on these and I'm glad y'all are enjoying them!

Bonus nonsense poll!

* 2020-2023, views wise, was the golden age of this channel, averaging 5000 views per day. Age of Calamity + Animal Crossing, along with Zelda Musical Speculation and mopping up some BotW tracks. It gave me the inspiration to start working on Open Air and Hyrule Highlands, both of which have become near and dear to my heart, and has been the prime way for me to find clients as a composer!

When TotK released, for some reason the views count declined sharply to half about that. Maybe the pre-release hype had been fuelling my channel for all those years, maybe COVID was responsible for that three-year bump, or maybe TotK didn't have as much music that people clicked with. Nothing I did - streaming, more Zelda, less Zelda, Celtic, Orchestral, shorts - did much to alleviate that beyond short bursts of views which died down quickly.

My Patrons and regular listeners definitely helped in keeping my channel alive, but now finally getting some tiny (if perhaps shortlived) success again does feel nice. It inspires me to work on arrangements more regularly, and with how great the Silksong tracks are and suit my style it's a great combination of what I'd *like* to do with what connects with my listeners and YouTube as a whole. So thank you for being here, and thank you for coming to my TED Talk!

I've followed you for a while and I really enjoy your videos and streams! I understand that more views is more money but you must never think that the content you put out is only as good as the views it gets. You are free to make videos about what you like! Make them first and foremost for yourself. If some of your vids pop off because they are topical, that's an added bonus but nothing more

It's interesting to hear about the views journey. It sucks that there ws such a dip in view for a time. I'm glad you now have a great soundtrack to work with, that is inspiring you to create, and is beginning to draw in the masses once more. It's good timing that you are playng the game when it came out, as you'll be able to continue arranging pieces as you yourself progress through, and it'll remain topical for quite a while, so all the other players will be able to find you and enjoy your arrangements too! Plus, for folks like me who haven't played these games, it's a nice little introduction musically to the series, and inspires me to pick them up. Then I can return in the future to relisten to your tracks once more!

I think if you are the channel with arrangements for all the tracks and they are the best arrangements on YouTube, you might get a lot of views and subscribers over the course of Silksong’s life. (Especially considering DLC music)

Sir! We need cheese option with a silly poll! 😂 But seriously, I’ve enjoyed the new music and I’m glad you’re getting views

It's strange. A lot of Zelda creator's views dipped after TOTK. Not sure of an exact reason, but glad to see you're finally making something of a comeback! Silksong has great music. - 🐦

Maybe Silksong is the contrary of TOTK, Silksong almost shadow dropped and brings a lot of songs, whereas Zelda was highly anticipated and the hype was huge and communications BEFORE the release was so high you could only talk about it 🤔 Btw, this nice poll is really interesting in the way people answer. There's some psychology to research from it, seeing the bizarre repartitition of the answers

Personally I wasn’t interested all that much in totk. What I’ve always loved about this channel is the perfect arrangements of songs I love, that is then expanded upon in your own jazzy style. I get what I want and I get more of it. Your hateno village cover is still one I regularly listen to, to this day. A lot of totk isn’t as pleasant or interesting to listen to compared to the other Zelda’s imo. What I hope to see more of is more covers with more of your improv added on to it. Would be awesome to see more tracks that aren’t Nintendo as well.
