These photos are from 2020, when I was camping near Mornas, Franceβ€”the trip where I almost gave up backpacking altogether. I hadn’t eaten for nearly two days, and I only had a tiny bit of water left. The ground was too hard for my tent pegs, so I had to improvise with whatever I could find around me. Somehow, the tent stayed up.

The heat was unbearable, so I slept through the day and walked at night. One evening, I pushed myself through 15 kilometres of pitch-black countryside. By sunrise, I was completely drainedβ€”no food, no water, and ready to quit.

Then, by pure chance, I saw a man in a harvester. I asked if he had any work, and he offered me three days of grape-picking, starting immediately. While we worked, I mentioned that I had a drone. He asked how much I charged for videos. I told him I didn’t knowβ€”I was still new to it. He said, β€œDo some videos, and I’ll pay what I think they’re worth.”

After three days of grape-picking, he paid me €180. Then he watched the drone videos, and to my surprise, he handed me another €400. Just like that, I became a photographer. πŸ˜…πŸ‘Œ

The very next day, I caught the first bus into Spain. France had been brutal, but that moment changed everything. πŸ€œπŸ€›πŸ•
