Justin Sung

Early last year I was given the opportunity to publish a solo authored chapter by Springer Nature, one of the world's most prestigious academic publication houses (if you've ever picked up a textbook, there's a good chance it was Springer).

Even though you guys probably get sick of me talking about higher-order learning all the time, outside of my channel, it's still a rarely talked about topic. So having the chance to talk about my area of expertise for such a high-level publication was a chance I couldn't pass by.

And on New Years Eve, the published book with my chapter was delivered to my door step!

2024 was a year of a lot of learning and I'm excited to put it into action in 2025.

There are so many ideas for making more content that is even more valuable and specific based on the feedback I've gotten so far, as well as a tonne of updates and enhancements underway for iCanStudy (for those of you who are on there).

Wishing you all a fulfilling 2025. And for those of you who struggled through 2024, it will get better. You're doing great, moving at the speed you need to be moving. Trust the process and put your head down!

Excellent work Justin. It does feel like you’re beating a dead horse when it comes to higher order learning sometimes, nonetheless you are the YouTuber i recommend to anyone learning how to learn. You changed my perspective on study by learning systems and not just isolated techniques. Great job!!

Justin I wish you are able to see this post. I just want to thank you so much for your help and guidance! Your "grinde" method has been indispensable and fundamental to how I learn and process new study materials👍🏿👍

First off, congrats! Second off, appreciate the value you provide. It's personally helped me immensely on my journey and I am very grateful for it. Third off, I have a request. I've completed all the way through post graduate education and now I'm studying purely professional. I have one issue that I've had to overcome and it's made learning a lot more challenging and I hope that you have some tips and I'd love a video on it if you deem it worthy. During all my education/higher education, professors and books always try to organize information in some rational way (usually a hierarchy, I assume). But we all know professional things aren't purely hierarchy...they're more relational. The leader in education in my industry is a bit cryptic, drops an idea but doesn't complete it until way later or doesn't ever complete it, etc. The main reason he does this is because he's hands down "the" authority in the industry, while at the same time charging absolutely nothing for what he gives. And since it is very heavy in procedural and conceptual as well as being very nuanced and context dependent...he doesn't want people to waltz right in and take his life's work and take credit for it or whatever. He wants his students to work for it so that only the most serious and dedicated get the "whole picture." This is really challenging for me because there's literally a couple thousand hours of video (and more coming still) yet he purposely structures it in a way where it's not all in one place. I would love a video with some strategy for this situation. I think it's most similar to doing research in which you are the authority on the subject (I mean in which you still take ideas from many sources but have to bring it all to one place yourself and compile it as opposed to just trying to learn something from a single article/paper/book/video/etc). Thanks again, bud. Keep it up!

There so many students who don't see the light after efforts, may you be the beacon of hope in the world of academics.

Congratulations!! Do make a video on the way you formulated the chapter, note making writing and stuff. That would be a great help for a PhD researcher like me.
