I began writing parts of this song in the spring of 2021, after a moment when I realized I didn’t know exactly what I had to offer the world. I was asking myself - should I even pursue a career in the arts if I’m not sure? I felt like I was running out of time to prove myself.
I think the relationship we have with ourselves is often overlooked.
It can be easy to say unkind things to yourself and excusing it because you’ve fallen down the rabbit hole of perpetual “self-improvement.”
This song reflects how I saw myself during those times - less as a human being and more as an amalgamation of faults to be worked on. So it was no wonder when I looked in the mirror I didn’t see a friendly face.
This is a song that was written with those feelings in mind. It was also one of the first originals I posted to YouTube :)
I honestly don't think I'd have gone through with it if I didn't get so much support when I initially posted it on youtube. - > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_K9sQ...
But you were all sharing your own personal stories, saying that the lyrics spoke to you, and it made me want to make a released song out of it. Thank you so much again, and enjoy!
