It's awful that we'll never see her play with Finnegan and Dixie and all the other foxes. I loved watching her interact with the animals ever since COVID. Rip Mikayla, you'll always be remembered.

And now... She's gone. She's just... Gone. A shining light, just disappeared forever. May we all remember this incredible person and continue to give our support to her family.

Justice for Mikayla, harassed by cruel and insensitive people! She would be alive fighting for these animal rights.

Beautiful soul. Rest in peace. The world mourns yet celebrates your life.

For the evil people that bad mouthed this precious soul and drove her to the brink to take her life - shame on you. Your bullying and cruel words killed her. Shame on you. May she rest in peace and frolic on the other side with all the animals she’s ever saved.

Beautiful soul…. If only she knew how much the love the world has for her outweighs any sense of empty words from negative people. You may finally rest in peace. Your legacy will never fade.

Oh my gosh my heart is broken I can’t believe this happened. I’m so sorry for Mikayla’s family and praying for them all. 😭😭

File a lawsuit against them for sure and call out their names openly... people need to see the true faces of some masked people...if they were true animal lovers and rescuers they would never belittle some other rescuer. R.I.P to her she will forever be remembered.❤️🩹

Mikayla ... we loved you as much as you loved the foxes. We are broken now you are gone. This is a tragedy ... My heart goes out to Ethan and Freya ... and all those that knew Mikayla or volunteered at SAF ... You were the truest definition of what it was to be a decent human being. You WILL NOT be forgotten.

Education with Esmae fox
None of the foxes in our care, have ever been wild, and are unreleasable.
All the foxes here were bred in captivity for various purposes, and their family’s have been in captivity got 50 plus years. Due to this they are vastly different physically and mentally than wild foxes.
The foxes have come from fur farms, seized from bad situations, and are even surrendered by families who bought them to be pets.
If these foxes (or any domestic foxes) were released, they would not have the proper skills to survive in the wild, and unfortunately even if they did survive, it wouldn't be good. They would interbreed with wild populations introducing unnatural genes to the wild foxes. These domestic foxes carry colors that are unnatural and they also carry genetic diseases. With these introduced to the wild populations we would see a drastic decline in foxes, and it could even possibly drive certain threatened subspecies to extinction.
These foxes must live their life in captivity. There is no other option.
