@ken2tou

My Grandfather, Edward Leroy Mitchell, fought and took shrapnel in his body at this battle. I picked slivers as long as an inch out of his back when I was a kid. At 72, he died of an aneurism after 36 surgeries over 50 years. He was a quiet unassuming man who was talented and caring. He was a true American Hero.

My great grandfather was there during the Siege of Bastogne. 3rd Platoon, C Company, 638th Tank Destroyer Battalion. He talked a lot about how people lost bits in the cold. He was lucky.

My father, company first Sargeant 9th infantry and platoon leader fought in the battle of the bulge. He said he thought he was going to be killed in that one.
