What part about anime do you dislike the most? (for new video)

@crunchyleaves96

I picked underage but I’d probably also put using SA for laughs or the constant trope of characters accidentally seeing someone nude or accidentally touching them inappropriately and they are NEVER given a chance to explain themselves.

All of the above

Honestly, my biggest issue is with how a lot of anime is just written. I guess it comes down to cultural differences and story expectations, but the lore dumps, excessive monologing, annoying ass gag characters, flashbacks every 5 minutes to stuff you already know about, filler episodes, and so on and so forth; it just makes it really hard for me to stay engaged with a lot of anime. My Hero Academia almost sent me insane with the amount of flashbacks, filler episodes, and internal/external monologing it had. I must have skipped a good 40% of the animes entire runtime just to not drop it entirely.

I hate that nowadays it’s extremely common for the main character of a show to be 14-16, never grow up, and develops strength that surpasses everything over the age of 18. Like let the characters develop in a way where it’s possible to suspend disbelief at how fast they’re getting stronger instead of either being extremely strong off rip (and not playing it for laughs) or going from weaker than à twig to being able to destroy reality with a punch after a summer (or 3 years while somehow not aging)

I'd like to say all three of them. I want people to just prioritize making a good show, without catering to the audience. Plus also underage characters are WEIRD. Then the weebs who think you NEED to watch and enjoy their favorite shows. I just can't with all of this. I want to clarify with the underaged characters thing. I'm fine with a character who is underaged. I think there are a lot of things that could and should be discussed with childhood. Anything from self-discovery, developing friendships, and understanding the world around them. However, when the anime has an entire bit about a 15 year old girl's chest in this weird disgusting way, I will absolutely stop watching there and then. If the character being a child has NOTHING to do with the plot or message, I don't think they should be a child.

@chillzone44

My biggest peeve is pairing characters who look like children up with grown adults as well as the reverse

@Bandaid_Bunny

Tbh I want a collage anime not a HS anime. I read Korean manga and a lot of them take place in Collage! And it's so nice bc it shows like the transition to adulthood, dealing with financial issues and juggling work family life and school life.

Since I don’t really engage with fanbases for animes, the thing I dislike most is when anime sexualizes children. That, and horrible Isekai anime that revolve around the main character being all-powerful and building a harem of underaged girls/slave girls. Rising of the Shield Hero is one of the most disgusting animes I’ve ever had to watch.

Anime has a really big misogyny problem. Sometimes it's overt, but it's often more subtle. Lots of male protags surrounded by one dimensional or incompetent women who are little more than objects in the story.

Definitely always hated the 'pervert character' trope. Ruins everything for me.

The extremely prevelant bigotry.

I REALLY dislike people who compare characters from different animes, like of course goku is stronger than naruto

@end1ngme

i think it’s a cultivation of it all that turns non anime fans away from it, the weird fan shippers, all the cosplaying, the underage looking character and perverted undertones of these shows ontop of the elitists who tell you you’re wrong.

@salazar556

I don't necessarily mind if the characters are underage, but what puts me off is when they're sexualized.

@itsyaboyfritz

the bazongaloo physics. i'm only half joking, i honestly really dislike how boobs are even just drawn in most anime styles, they so commonly really do look like two water balloons taped onto the poor girls chest even when they're not bouncing around and it drives me insane lol (tbf that part isn't an anime-only thing though)

None of these bother me in the slightest. People complaining about 1 and 3 are the most annoying. People who want the show to change from what the author wants to make and demand those changes. People who will make accusations about you over enjoying those parts. The "critical consumption" people who will bitch about a show (not constructive criticism, just bitching), but won't try to look for something else since they just watch popular stuff. The only elitism I dislike is the people who think they are better for not liking fan service. All of this coming from people who refuse to look beyond what's popular and actually explore other genres beyond shounen. There's so many masterpieces out there that these people won't even look at because they don't have "aura and hype moments". But honestly, at least that keeps those people singled out in a single corner instead of having them be annoying all around. Good luck with the dime a dozen analysis of fan service in anime. I am genuinely, unsarcastically, sure you'll get a ton of views from someone posting a screenshot of the video and being upset when they see the same take they see 700 times a day on Twitter.

@ferro9926

I've only watched aggretsuko, beastars, and evangellion, the elitism and people saying "you have to watch this" throw me off, that and how so many of them kind of blur together...

What I hate about it was Westernization of Anime which is becoming common these days. I mean why would I watch Anime if it is the same story as Cartoons or Disney. I watch Anime because it is Japanese and it is very different from Western Cartoons so what's the point now if it became the same as Cartoons?
