I saw his name in the news yesterday and got hyped thinking he was working on a new project only to see he had died. I'm not a fan of all his work but there are few directors who put in so much passion as he does so its a real shame to lose him

He was one of one, man. Nobody was as authentically weird. So influential and so often aped, but never replicated. Mulholland Drive is a masterpiece, Blue Velvet is amazing, and Twin Peaks will live forever. π

I wasn't into his stuff but I'll never deny he was a filmmaking genius and had an artistic and complicated mind like none other. You think of Van Gogh and Dali and Elvis not only because they were famous and their work got popular at some point but because they became icons in their fields. David Lynch is like that, in my opinion. He developed a flavor of creation that was all his own.
