My first hip hop concert was in D.C. 1995 at Howard University outdoor field. The lineup was absolutely amazing. O.D.B came with Brooklyn Zoo and almost started a fight when the radio people told him not to curse. Smif N Wessun, Mobb Deep, KRS One featuring Mad Lion and Rare Essence tore it down at the end. Still by far the best concert I've ever been to and it was free.

1st time I heard Nas was when I was a kid being 9 (1999) watching BET... Nas is like and Hate Me Now (I Am) changed my life forever, THEN I went back to illmatic being 13 (2003) during the Jay-Z beef/God's Son era (best rap battle ever) and never stopped being a fan since then

I could never connect with my Mom's family growing up. They were classic rock. I was maybe 5 and the radio played Positive Ks "🎶🎤You got what I need, but you say he's just a friend 🎶"..... I couldn't stop asking questions, who was this, what was this, has my Mom ever heard this kind of music???? It was my first connection to finding myself outside of the only family I knew. I knew I looked different, acted different, but didn't get it until I started paying attention. After I found my Dad, all I could think was "Omg... This is my people, this is where I come from". Mama did her best, but somethings are in the blood. Thank God for it, saved me from some personal pain more than once. Tupac's, Shed so many tears, was the first album I bought. I still today credit it for saving my life in some heavy mess a kid shouldn't be

I was young, around 7 years old, watching TV. 2pac was on it with 'Do For Love. At that time I was in love! Since then I liked rap and listen to it, but don't know much about it and what rap means with al the stories with it. Now at the age of 25 I know everything of it and listen all the rappers and underground rappers. What a genre!! Best thing that happend in my life!

I got two occasion that Stand out to me growing up in North Philly. 1st is when DMX Ruff Ryders Anthem first came out, it was the hottest thing on the streets and schools, everybody was knew the lyrics n the motorcycles, 4wheelers/dirt bikes was inspiring. 2nd is when Big Pun passed away and Its So Hard came out. North Philly was out in the streets that day blasting that song every where. I was jumping on top of Baseball home plate fence.

I mean HOURS!!! We were in first and second grade in HOUSTON, TEXAS ! That was the FIRST Hip Hop song I learned in its entirety.... I've been hooked ever since. ❤

Even though I was familiar with Kurtis Blow and Rappers Delight it wasn’t until 1983 when I heard It’s Like That and Sucker Mc’s by Run Dmc on the radio down in Miami‼️ Then being able to see them on an album cover 🔥 Their swag was on a 1000‼️That’s when I fell in love with what we now call Hip Hop ❤️❤️❤

"Mom know her baby crazy" true words. When I heard this line from "Nastradamus" that made me look @ Nas differently, I'm like, he's an in-depth storyteller.

I use to walk to the bodega everyday as a child for some chips and juice and one day on the sidewalk there was a cd on the ground that was cracked and it happened to be Nas it was written, I had no idea what I was about to listen to but only three songs on the cd worked for some reason. One of the songs was the message, I was a fan ever since.

I started listening to nas when he had dropped kd2 because I'm a young guy like I'm 15 from India and i spread his name to my friends and they spread your name to their friends so like I am in love with what he does nowadays knowing that he is the only rapper from the 90s era going strong and ready to kidnap the rap game
