"Some people have stopped attending church or pulling away from fellowship, not because God told them to, but because they don’t like the package the message comes in. Just like the Pharisees rejected Jesus because He didn’t fit their expectations — born in a manger, raised in Nazareth, hanging out with tax collectors and sinners — many today reject the church because it doesn’t look like what they think it should.
But the danger is this: you might miss what God is doing because you’ve already decided who He can’t use to reach you. Hebrews 10:25 tells us, 'Not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.' God calls us to community because it’s through the imperfect body of Christ that we grow, are challenged, and are shaped.
Remember, God has always used unlikely vessels — Moses with a stutter, David the shepherd, Paul the persecutor, and yes, even Jesus the carpenter from Nazareth. If you’re waiting for the perfect pastor, the perfect people, or the perfect church, you’re not really seeking God — you’re seeking comfort. And comfort has never been the criteria for truth. Don’t let offense or pride keep you from the very place where God wants to mature you."
