Do you know about Ugly Jugs? This practice has been so stolen and erased from history that there is only one professional Black potter of Ugly Jars left.
In this 2 day seminar & workshop, we will do a deep dive and travel back to the Bakongo roots of the Ugly Jar. We will learn how enslaved Africans used these Ugly jars as protest, for protection and for ancestral veneration. We will also learn to create our own!
