As I prepare to turn another year older tomorrow, I find myself in a reflective space tonight. With each passing year, life’s milestones seem to carry more weight—each win, each loss, every lesson along the way has shaped who I am. I’m truly grateful. Another trip around the sun, and by God’s grace, I’m still growing. 🌅🎉
Last week, I spoke to a group of high school seniors—many preparing for college or military service. One young man asked me, “What’s your proudest accomplishment?”

It gave me pause.

Without hesitation, I told him my family is my greatest accomplishment—no title, degree, or accolade could ever compare. But after a moment of thought, I shared that earning my Ph.D. is in second place. I never imagined pursuing such a demanding academic path. My research was born from personal tragedy, but that journey has turned into purpose, and I pray it will ultimately lead to meaningful change in healthcare.
So, in the spirit of reflection, I’m sharing this photo from my 2023 doctoral hooding ceremony. It reminds me that even from pain, purpose can rise—and that the journey is worth it. 🎓❤️
