Nate the Hoof Guy

So you want to be a hoof trimmer? And it’s going to get colder this winter. 🥶😡

Geez. I’ll leave hoof trimming to you, the professional. Having been born in upstate NY on a dairy farm, I know the cold and the hard work you do. Thanks for it, and for your entertaining videos!

I'm more than happy to just keep watching you do it. If the temperatures drop below 50°f or go higher than about 70°f, I suffer lol

In Finland we have been having closer to - 25C for days now and I love it :) luckily farmers have big and warm cow sheds where cows can be during winter.

No! I don't want to be a hoof trimmer. I'm very happy to leave that to you and just watch your videos. I believe strongly in the division of labor. :)

At this point I think your made of magic. Takes a special human to do certain jobs. You Maestro Nate, are one of them.

Question: does the cold or hot weather affect how soft or hard the hoof is? Will the hoof be harder in the winter compared to the summer? Or is it just normal throughout the year?

Try Wisconsin or Iowa in the United States. Not sure what it would be in Celsius but it can consistently be 10 to 20° in the day and below zero at night (F). On either side of the ocean though, it can get very cold!

At first I thought this was a post from The Hoof GP, and I was like, yeah that's cold but it's not that bad. Then I realized this is you, and that's Fahrenheit...
