I knew something wasn’t right…

Everyone who knows me knows I am an extremely disciplined person, so HOW could I be doing all the things I was supposed to do following keto but gaining the weight back???

For about 3 years I’ve been experiencing a Yo-Yo with keto, I lost 60 lbs then I gained 20 of it back and endured a painful struggle with that 20. It is a living torture to be on a “diet” and gaining weight, like wtf.

Finally I hit my breaking point and decided if there was a way for me to just eat whatever I want I would be happy staying the same, if it meant I could get off the constant battle with my body, I just wanted to be content and happy and able to eat the foods I love.

At this same time I decided to get my microbiome tested and with that I found ALL my problems clearly laid out for me. I didn’t have to guess anymore. The answer was clear.

I needed to quit keto.

What I learned shook me to the core. I had been eating ALL the right foods for keto which also turns out were the WRONG foods for my personal gut microbiome and they were setting war on me with constant bloating, pain and weight gain. They were producing toxic gas from the foods I thought were helping me!

Last Halloween I couldn’t get out of bed because I was in so much pain after eating STEAK, and couldn’t figure out WHY. Now I know.

I think keto short term is not an issue but I needed to shift into a more balanced lifestyle once I initially lost that 60 lbs and started plateauing.

My glow up includes ditching all diets, focusing on a flexible eating lifestyle with time restricted eating and fueling my body with abundance of all the foods, I focus on staying in a negative energy balance while my goal is fat loss.

I FUC*ING love my life now. Zero bloating, no pain and I have never felt more free and now the weight is effortlessly dropping! Stay tuned for my ultimate glow up and to see what I’m doing daily watch my stories 🌈 don’t give up on yourself!

Yes everyone should definitely listen to their body and do what is right for them. Keto is great for me. I feel no pain, bloating, or issues with steak or greens but feel it so badly after consuming a lot of wheat or sugar. So when people do keto and do not feel amazing I always mention that it isnt right for everyone. I do wonder why you ate steak in pain and didnt think it could be your diet. Many people on keto do not eat meat or still limit it.

Omg you look amazing! I've been following you for a few years now and hands down, I have the same struggles with keto. I have 3 kids, with my youngest who just turned 1 last month, and while pregnant with him I went off keto and gained over 60 lbs, such a huge bummer as I've only lost 30 lbs in the last year. Anyway, this time around on keto has been very difficult. I've noticed alot more bloating, and SERIOUS hair loss, beyond postpartum hair loss and mood swings. I Just had my hormones checked and they are out of whack. I have to wonder if it's my keto lifestyle. I have admit in the past I have liked keto, but have recently felt very deprived and unsatisfied which my husband thinks contributes to my mood swings. Anyway, I ordered the microbiome test, health intelligence test and can't wait to see what it tells me about my health. Congrats on finding the perfect balance for yourself 😀

I for some reason don’t have much success with keto/low carb diets as far as weight loss either. It helps my glucose levels tremendously but in a month I’ll typically lose like 2 lbs doing keto, maybe 10lbs if I make it 3 months. A healthy balanced diet with lean meats, fruits and veggies and regular exercise I typically lose around 20 lbs every 3 months.

I am struggling with the same stomach issues, I do low carb diet due to my diabetes, but man I feel miserable with bloating, diarrhea, burping, hair loss, etc etc. On top of that my hair is falling like crazy, my sugar is ok but my energy and my stomach are paying the toll 🌈

Ok Ashley I’m trying to understand I eat keto food I read the ingredients I eat chicken fish ribs steak I prepare my own vegetables keto way I only know how to eat keto way and it help me I do OMAD r ADF I haven’t had any issues besides everytime I eat I get diarrhea at times am I’m doing something wrong
