What is your favorite BRAND of watercolors? These polls only allow four options, so answers are somewhat grouped based on their traits, but feel free to expand or specify in the comments!

Non-sticky has my preference - I have three fluffy pets in my apartment, so I'm constantly fighting the (inevitable) discovery of rogue pet hairs in my paints.

White Night full pans my BELOVEDDDD, I swear by these. They're plenty wide for your brushes and come in a plastic case (I hate metal ones), they're high quality enough they don't hinder my art in any way but comes with more than enough paint that I don't feel like I'm "wasting" any by playing with color mixes or rinsing them off if they get cat hair in them. They used to be cheaper than they are now and the big 36 set does take up a lot of room on my desk but I've got a little 12 set comes with me everywhere <3

For different pigments I have varied preference. For organic yellow and red pigments I like holbein as well as winsor & newton; for quinacridones and dioxazine violet I prefer daniel smith and winsor & newton; for cobalts I find winsor & newton as well as schmincke are my favourite; for generally low-tinting pigments like ultramarine violet and viridian da vinci's version are far more better; as for classic earth pigments it varies: I prefer holbein for yellow ochre, winsor for gold ochre, burnt sienna and venetian red, da vinci for terracotta and burnt umber. Generally speaking phthalos are equally nice among major manufacturers.

The senelier and mission gold have my heart! I love the glow they have! And the endless glazing💖

@MoonSpinners

I chose the non sticky option, I enjoy Winsor and Newton, but my favourite brand is Daler Rowney.

Well I started with Daniel Smith and shmincke but I really love A. Gallo and Roman Szmal. And the super granulated line from shmincke is my most used.

I love the non sticky ones for general use, but for glazing power I have yet to meet a paint that does it better than Sennelier 😍 but really all of these have their own strengths and they are all great

@Miss_dilettante

This is first time I find these color categories. It made me more aware of my own color choices. I love using 1st category. Non sticky. But I never knew it fell in same category. It's a new information for me. For me it has always been how I feel while painting. And I feel most happy while painting with Daniel Smith, Schmicke, winsor and newton and white nights colors. Does this color category affects our painting experience? What are the major differences?

Roman Szmal, The Earths and unique pigments are a winner for me . I have a lot of different brands though and mix some of my own colors. Such Fun !

My everyday palette has mission gold, Sennelier, and Daniel smith. But my favorite brand for fun stuff is iuile. But they’re only for when you want a special effect.

Most of my palette is M. Graham these days. My art studio is a very dry room and I don’t really have much issue with the gloopiness once the paints have dried. M Graham’s Viridian is one of my all time favorite colors because it’s formulated so well. Da Vinci is a close second for the color range and the price. I’ve also never had issues with their binder, unlike Daniel Smith. It’s almost more frustrating to me when a DS tube is a dud because of the expense. And for colors that have issues with lightfastness, I go with QoR since Golden has done more extensive lightfast testing on those than I ever could (or any other brand does).

The main brands in order of my prevalence of use/quantity are Daniel Smith, Schmincke, and MG Graham. I do have your DaVinci opaque set that I like. Although the half pans are not as filled as other brands I have purchased. I have a few of the tube paints which are hit and miss. They are prone to too much binder and I end up with a sheen and the tube material is not thick enough and I recently found a couple with cracks that leaked then hardened. I have some hand made paint that I also love but do not use as much.

Roman Szmal has continually impressed me but I'm also a HUGE fan of Da Vinci, and White Nights Granulating has become a recent favorite. Hard to pick just one!

@themightierpencil

Definitely Da Vinci thanks to you, but Qor is my second favorite for the reasons you listed, plus I love their Indigo and Payne's Gray (tied with Winsor & Newton's) which are necessities on my palette.

Da Vinci. But my ethical qualms with DS won’t let me click that button haha.

Roman Szmal and Mijello are my favourite price vs quality

@TammyNewmanArt

Winsor and Newton all the way!

@sablemoreno5095

Non-sticky was my vote, but I do love some specific QOR colors every now and then for intensity the other brands lack (mainly the ultramarine). They're too vibrant for me personally for sole brand usage but they're a close 2nd when it comes to favorites/main palette staples (Runner up since i dont have any handmade paints would be sticky MGraham since I like the reactivation but I'm a bit heavy on my layers so you can sometimes see all the gloss from the honey)
