This one will be really ridiculous, but honestly I don't care. It doesn't matter, hardly anyone comes here anyways. Maybe in a year down the line, but by that point I'll probably have already touched on it, and my audience recalibrated to like minded individuals anyways. Skip to the end if you want to jump right into the crazy part.
WHAT: I am entering a fast right now, nothing but spirulina, turmeric and matcha powder in my water. The goal I've set is for 3 days. This number is strategic because psychologically, it really doesn't seem like that long a time to me. I've done it once before for one thing, and also I know enough people whom have gone for a whole week. The other reason I chose this number is because if you ask people who have fasted, they will tell you that it is the first three days that are by far the most challenging. I can attest to this myself, remembering that by the end of my last fast, it actually felt more like a choice than a need to eat something. The idea is that one I have three days behind the belt, I will again be able to choose more easily to continue. I'm hoping I do.
WHY: According to my research, which these days any facts can be disputed and disproven as easily as they can be reaffirmed, so it is MY research, and what I CHOOSE to believe; the human body can experience a cleanse when fasting. once the stomach consumes all the 'food', it begins to digest the toxins in the body. Now, my theory is that this is actually the design of the stomach in the first place - but we've been fed a lie (pun intended). The lie is that we need to eat in order to survive. again I CHOOSE to believe this based on my research as well as my experience. check out breatharians if you are interested in learning more on the topic.
HOW: What makes sense to me is that the body consumes in 5 main ways: Air, Water, Sunlight (the three essentials) as well as food and meditation. This is where it becomes easy to poke holes. Argue in the comments. Meditation? Yes. A human mind is a powerful tool, but it is an organ like any muscle it can become strong or weak depending on how you exercise it. So I am testing my own limits. The weather is currently raining and overcast, I will get as much sunlight as I can, but I don't expect much. I will discipline myself to refrain from food. That leaves only air water and meditation. I'll admit, considering the amount of time I spend on social media working on my channel, or ever just sending funny reels back and forth to people I would say my meditated mind lacks discipline in some areas. This is different from the last time I fasted, where I was confined to a cell without access to any types a screens. I hope that this exercise can work some of that out, find a balance with my screen time. As I said before, my water will have spirulina, tumeric and matcha: a spoonful of powder of three super foods. The objective is to Alkalize my body. and finally we come to the secret weapon that will get me through this, AIR. The power of breath is a power we take advantage of. Most people I would say don't appreciate it. Some, like me, are at the edge of understanding it, but don't have the discipline to practice daily, yet. Then there is the 1% that truly understand the power of breathing.
Breath-work so much more that just inhale / exhale. To do each breath intentionally is a difference of night and day. You can literally get high just from breathing, and the high is clean, like a runner's high- in fact, the two are one of the same. In my travels, I found myself experiencing a breath-work workshop on a yoga deck in the Caribbean. All the participants lay on the floor and were instructed to inhale fully, and then exhale fully. about halfway through we all began to experience the magic. My body had gone completely numb and tingling, sweating harder than an intense workout. My fingers curled into a fist uncontrollably, the orgasm my brain was experiencing was better than sex. I swear by this, and I'm sure the other's will too. I keep in touch with some, I see them on social media occasionally, living their best lives truly. I even find myself low-key jealous at times. But a matured jealousy, met with gratitude and love.
The other major experience I had with breath took place in Peru. I had just come down from Macchu Picchu, a tourist destination I regret, and do not recommend. There are better places to visit for a spiritual journey than this 7th Wonder of the World that has been pimped out by capitalism. The journey began with a dieta and a 3 day journey hiking on the Inca trail ending in the tourist trap town of Aquas Calientes. to this day I am certain that the hot springs there where exactly where I became sick with a virus. They 'healing waters' had been pimped out as well and now offer bacon burgers and beer for tourists to enjoy while immersed in a soak. Combine my 4 days of dieting for ceremony with this virus that completely washed out my system and I was deathly prepped for the ayahuasca ceremony like no other. The breath experience came after the ceremony. Self discovered, the best kind. Of course, credit goes to mama aya as well. when the ceremony concluded, the people gathered in the center of the rounded room to gorge on fresh organic fruits. I was stuck laying half dead under a blanket. Completely weak. Too weak to lift a finger, too weak to call for help. The source of energy was just right there! I just had to get there. For awhile I was stuck, and I let out a big sign to surrender to this feeling. It was in this big sigh that I discovered the answer. In that moment I could visually see the small burst of energy the big breath gave me. I could do it again. And again, and again. I slowly came back from the dead as it seemed. Energy restored enough to rise to my feet and make my way over to the best bite of mango in my life, I can still taste it.
This is the true power of breath. More powerful than food.
