The author Chris Van Allsburg, as a child, often played on this very locomotive, which was on static display near Michigan State University's Spartan Stadium Symbolic number: The "1225" engine number directly aligns with the date of Christmas Day, ADDING A LAYER OF SYMBOLISM TO THE TRAIN Locomotive design: The 2-8-4 Berkshire steam locomotive design of the 1225 was aesthetically suited for the grandeur and nostalgia of the Polar Express.
