No one turns into an angel when we die. I actually think it’s important to correct that poor theology, even in the aftermath of tragedy, because it obscures the one thing that offers real hope and joy: the gospel. We are people, made in God’s image, that can enjoy eternal fellowship with our Creator in heaven through Jesus’s sacrifice for us. That’s good news — even better news than becoming an angel.
