TIKhistory

As many of you know, over the past year or two I’ve been looking into Ayn Rand’s Objectivism, and have found it extremely helpful for both personal and professional reasons.

After failing to save the Subjective Theory of History, I’ve adapted Objectivist metaphysics and epistemology to create an Objective Theory of History (see my video “But how do you know you’re right?”); I’ve learnt a substantial amount about the philosophies and philosophers throughout history, allowing me to trace the origins of the modern ideologies (see my “Where do our modern ideologies come from?”); and have been able to grasp concepts about National Socialism and Fascism that I otherwise wouldn’t have been able to do had I not looked into Ayn Rand and Leonard Peikoff’s writings (the “blood = spirit” concept, for example).

I’m still studying this philosophy and still have a long way to go, but it’s a relief to finally be able to read works written by people who prioritize reality over their emotions.

Well, recently I got talking to the folks over at the Ayn Rand Institute, and I’ve been invited to the AynRandCon Berlin next month (March 14th to 16th).

For those of you who are already familiar with Ayn Rand’s works, this event may be of interest to you. I’ll be part of a special panel titled: "Understanding Nazism and Communism: A Discussion with TIKhistory", where I’ll be joining Dr. Nikos Sotirakopoulos for an in-depth conversation on the allure of socialism - both Marxist and National Socialist. We’ll break down the key similarities and differences between these two collectivist ideologies and why they continue to shape politics today.

I’ll be there for the full three days and I would love to meet some of you there. So if you're interested in Ayn Rand's ideas and already have some familiarity with her writings, as part of my audience, you get 10% off your ticket with my coupon code: TIK10. Go to events.aynrand.org/arceu, enter the code at checkout, and secure your spot.

Good for you Tik. It’s important for you to have more discussions about these topics because one of your most important contributions to intellectual discourse is the decomposition of Fascism and National Socialism. It would go a long way to explain why National Socialism died, but fascism survived. Next, I highly recommend that you read, “The DIM Hypothesis” prior to meeting them as it will organize your thoughts and exemplify the need for an objective theory of history.

Congrats, this is awesome! Glad to see you succeeding and continuing to be the best historian on youtube. Your videos on Fascism and Nazism have been great. Thank you for suggesting "Hitler's National Socialism", its been so interesting to read.

@VadersGhost

Bro I’m so happy reading this post. I’ve been a student of the former director of the ARI for many years now, Dr Yaron Brook. I recommend your videos to him some years ago now and he later mentioned had watched them. I hope you’ve been in touch with him and have a fulfilling time at the conference.

That's really great. You are one of the most creative and thoughtful people I know. People like you are not easy to find in today's world, unfortunately, but still a better tomorrow will only come with rationality. I'm very glad you don't give up under the pressure of ungrateful mediocrities. That's very inspiring to me. Thank you for your work and your many analyses. Many videos are still available to watch, and I haven't watched most of them. The videos you mentioned above I definitely recommend to everyone, and I can also highlight The Dangerous Appeal of Hitler AI-translated speeches or This is the Actual Idea behind Fascism. I wish you the best and hope you listen to the voice of your own reason and reality as it is, rather than the nonsense and viciousness of intellectually passive and vacuous people. They are only the living dead who cannot be grateful and respectful. Sometimes, people come out of this state, but it is rare and not to be expected. Better to focus on active and intelligent people and your own goals than to give credit to ungrateful perpetually disgruntled fools.

I have to set the playback speed of your videos to 2x because I’m so enthralled with your analysis that I feel as if I can’t get the information quickly enough. The world is better informed and thus safer due to your clearheaded analysis. Thank you 🙏

I’m glad that her philosophy has been helpful for you. I went to ARI’s conference when it was in Cleveland and loved the experience. I’m working on learning more about Objectivism and doing a better job of integrating it into my life. Cheers!

Among Objectivists there are many interesting individuals with noteworthy ideas whom I can recommend for study. For example, George Reisman, who developed his economic theory of capitalism and created an entire encyclopaedia of capitalism (Capitalism Treatise on Economics). Or Edith Paker, who developed an interesting theory of introspection (Lectures on Psychology). One could also mention former Objectivist Nathaniel Branden in this vein. I also note Craig Biddle, who has written many interesting articles and given many interesting speeches (Conceptual Fallacies and How to Avoid Them, Reason vs Mysticism, Here's What's Wrong with Ayn Rand's Philosophy). He has done a lot of work in ethics and applications of ethics. Also, he and his wife, Sarah Biddle, have created a very advanced and beautiful method of parenting (How To Raise a Life-Loving Child). I can also mention without comment his wonderful article Resources for Understanding Objectivism. Leonard Peikoff has produced many marvellous things and writings in his lifetime, and he is a truly great teacher with a huge range of varied lectures. Every book that he wrote is fascinating.

whatever.. I think it's important to point out that while juveniles tend to be collectivist and some people never grow up, it's not an adult mentality

Far out this is awesome, I was just looking to see if I missed an upload but this is great news. Definitely agree with the others on here, a recording (even a transcript) would be awesome, I loved seeing you talk with your mate last year and this would be just as good if not better. Really glad for you that the Rand Institute invited you to speak. 🥳

TIK, I greatly appreciate the thoroughness of your presentations. I hope to continue to do so. However, I find Ayn Rand to be nothing more than a philosophy for teenaged boys. Basically, “I don’t have to if I don’t want to!”
