I'm 73 and still working out and getting stronger. Depending on which feeds i get from the YT algorithm, im either doing everything wrong for someone my age or just a few basic things right. Exert your muscles regularly. Push your limits a little. Tolerate moderate pain - it shows you really put out! Just showing up is 90% of the battle. Sure, learn proper technique and form, and be wise in your diet, but don't get bogged down in debates between the experts.

56 years old, and I'll say this. There is no best way to train; only the way you train. If you're not getting the results you want, then seek help if you're serious about your training. But above all, enjoy the journey, why? Because health and fitness are a life choice, not a popularity contest.

It took me 5 years of training to realize this fact, but it’s still a solid reminder for me to NOT humiliating myself for not being bigger faster than I want, thank you for your post❤

IMO, most people have no idea just how much genetics play a role in the look of your physique. Building muscle/getting in shape is not rocket science, in fact it’s actually a pretty simple process. It’s really the last 10-15% of your maximum potential gains that requires extreme dedication and attention to details. That first 85% is going to come relatively easily even with many mistakes. And so with great genetics (thick bones, round muscle bellies, good insertions, wide shoulders/narrow waist, above average response to training stimulus, prevalence to be lean), one can have a pretty lackluster/inefficient training program and shitty effort…..yet still look pretty fucking amazing (and that’s without gear). This is the reality that the fitness community keeps quiet on.

Consistency is key. Put in the right amount of work and enjoy the process.

Yup. Use to do bro splits, got jacked. Moved to upper lower ppl and got more jacked. Everything kinda works.

Hope you're humble enough to realise the same might apply for you in certain areas

And they themselves may not realize it! Just like millionaires sometimes don’t understand what actually made their business successful. You can’t automatically trust someone’s advice just because they got the result you want.

Very true. I’m 6’6, from the bulk where I went 205-230, I ate like Nikocado before he got skinny again. 🤣 Leaned back to 220 for a while and now hovering 235 some year or so later. I can say probably about half of that weight gain was muscle and it’s no joke. I make progress because I stick with it and have good genetics, but anybody mimicking my diet would probably just get fat as fuckkk…

Regeneron Pharmaceuticals will level the playing field. A true Myostatin blocker is on the horizon.

As a genetic freak myself, I confirm. I train legs once a week, and the rest of the body 3-4 times a week. My legs are ridiculously strong - I maxed out ALL leg exercises machines. And I do 120kg leg extensions full ROM with one leg. My 88kg dad body in 5'8 package makes it look hilarious. But all other part of my body are hardly have any noticable progress regardless of all the effort I put to build them. No fancy exercises, btw, just base. So, because of dumb genetics I have barely trained legs of a superhuman, with trained hard average rest of the body. My double chin cheers to gym bros!😊

Keep in mind: many people with jacked physiques got there DESPITE certain ineffective things they did along the way (fancy exercises, "diet hacks", worthless supplements) and not directly BECAUSE of those things. Just because your favorite bodybuilder trains or eats a certain way doesn't automatically mean you should too.
