Hydrophane opals aren't stable enough for everyday wear and give opal the bed reputation of being unstable. Stick to real Australian opal, it's strong enough in solid stone form to wear everyday, Don't bother with triplets or doubles, invest in solid. It will not discolour when exposed to water, unlike welo. It's still a softer stone than most gems so a protective setting is recommended, but Australian opal will last a lifetime, welo can only be worn on occasion and will discolour upon exposure to water, Australian opal is only enhanced by water.
