They never had an argument to begin with. They can only disagree with yours. That's why they lose every "debate". If one person presents an argument and the other only offers counter-arguments or criticisms, it's not a debate. It's more of a one-sided presentation and refutation. An actual debate requires both sides to actively engage in building and supporting their own positions, not just tearing down the other side's. Flat earthers cannot support any FE exclusive position they hold. Nothing exists to support it.

Or when you realize that your opponents do not listen and they will lie, cheat and do what they please anyway..

The only argument they've ever had for FE is "it looks flat to me". Literally. That's why they only ever try to nitpick the globe - because they can't make any claims for Flatopia.

That’s right, time for debates is over. We know for a fact the globe is a lie and globe liars need to be arrested for crimes against humanity

I am actually neighbors with two flat earthers. My other neighbor used to work at JPL, and has a daughter who is an Air Force pilot. I’m an astronomy/space nerd. Flat earthers don’t get more rational. They just get louder and meaner.

I've always wondered why flat earthers continually say, as with even in these comments, globers need to do the science, have no evidence of water curving, sun setting etc etc etc when globers DO have the evidence. All of it, without exception. Are they not aware of it? Never listen to it or look for it? The theme is always you don't have evidence of globe claims when there really is evidence. Are they that blinkered? Must be. I understand when they say it is fake or whatever but just repeating, there isn't any at all, fake or otherwise?

Applying the BITE Model (Behavior, Information, Thought, and Emotional control) to explain why a Flat Earther might tell others not to debate: Behavior Control Isolation from outside perspectives: They discourage debating because debates expose their arguments to scrutiny, which could cause members to question the belief system. Rules and regulations: A directive like "Don’t debate" becomes a behavioral rule, restricting engagement with critical thinkers or evidence-based discussions. Control of time and energy: Instead of spending time debating, they want members to focus only on reinforcing group beliefs (watching Flat Earth videos, attending forums, etc.). Information Control Filtering of information: By forbidding debates, they block exposure to alternative views (heliocentrism, science, Scripture-based geocentrism). Deceptive framing: They may claim that debating is a “waste of time” or “a trap from shills,” making it sound noble to avoid challenges. Limiting access to non-group information: Members are told not to read NASA data, mainstream science, or even biblical interpretations that conflict with their narrative. Thought Control Black-and-white thinking: They instill the idea that “Flat Earth = truth, everything else = lies.” Debating could introduce nuance or questions, so they frame it as dangerous. Loaded language: They label critics as “globe cult,” “paid shills,” or “Freemasons,” which makes members view debate as engaging with evil. Discouraging critical thinking: They teach members that debating is pointless because “the evidence is obvious,” thus suppressing independent analysis. Emotional Control Fear and guilt: They warn members that debating outsiders could “make you doubt” or “anger God,” instilling fear of losing faith. Us vs. them mentality: Members feel loyalty to the group and hostility toward outsiders. Debating is painted as betrayal. Shame for questioning: Anyone wanting to debate is seen as weak or compromised, creating peer pressure to conform. Summary: Telling members not to debate is a classic BITE model tactic to maintain thought reform and group cohesion. It prevents exposure to evidence and keeps members emotionally dependent on the group. In effect, the rule serves as behavioral and informational isolation, a common control method in high-control groups and cult-like systems.

You don't need the words "good", or "left" in that last sentence.

It’s kinda funny how little no one cares about this nonsense. Life’s to short . It’s not up to you or anyone else how people decide to experience reality

Truth. I would add a few qualifiers: if one has repeatedly had the same debate with the same person multiple times and neither side can convincethe other, it is understandable refuse another debate. Second, if it is known that one party will refuse to listen to sound reasoning or properly consider and counter given arguments it might not be worth debating that type of person. Flat earthers seem to be accusing you of the latter fault, but that is clearly not the case. The people pointing the fingers are the one's who are guilty of the charge they levy. Glad you are exposing these deceivers and self decieved people.

This is why I never wanted to debate Calvinism even when I was a Calvinist. 😆

They won't even try. And what is the most irritating, the "big ones" are perfectly aware that the Earth is a Globe. They prefer to lie, manipulate and scam people, than to simply stop. They are too deep at this point to say "Fine, you proved to everyone that the Earth is not flat and we have no arguments on our side". They will keep griffting, because they don't care about the truth, they care about money.

The Final Experiment
It's looking like The Final Debate is actually going to be the final flat earth debate. At 2:29:00 of the video below, flat earther Ironwork92000 (aka Vlad) tells flat earthers that they need to stop debating this topic and that debating globers is a waste of breath. I wonder why they don't want to debate if they have the truth on their side? Oh...I know! It's because they don't have the truth on their side. Debates happen every single day on every imaginable topic. The only reason to stop debating is when you realize you no longer have any good arguments left.
