As soon as US President Donald Trump came into power, he signed an Executive order called "Reevaluating and Realigning United States Foreign Aid", which caused a 90-day pause on all foreign development assistance programs.
This resulted in USAID suspending around 83% of its progams affecting many African nations, particularly in the education and health sectors.
In South Africa, clinics providing antiretroviral drugs were forced to close, putting those living with HIV at risk.

We spoke to South Africans in Johannesburg about the implications and a possible path towards self-sufficiency. Have a look at the full debate here: https://youtu.be/5myvi6a4TbE

@konyvnyelv.

I agree with Trump. Africa needs to become independent sooner or later.

Instead of regional trade, we should have continental trade. I believe with the right investments into Research and Development, Africans would be fully capable of having a sustainable economy strictly on the continent. Goods from Asia, Europe and NA would be an afterthought…

Grow out of depending on European nations and those adjacent to Europeans. The entire world is ran on resources from the African continent. They can overnight put an end to centuries of looting, corruption and malfeasance. If they would open up trade and innovation with each other they would not need foreign assistance. At that point they would be in a position of power to dictat what their own price for resources raw and manufactured!
