I finally figured out exactly how skill increases work in the remaster and all the math behind them. My previous videos that I gave specific numbers were off, and the new formulas highlight exactly why the remaster feels like it does.

i decided to start a fresh save, pick 7 skills that i didnt want to use and made them my majors. i have not leveled a single major skill once and am already level 16 just by running through all the one-off side quests and im only 3/4 done with those. its so incredibly hard to not level up in the remaster.

destruction taking fewer casts to level up as it increases in level is pretty wild. You can go from like, 75 skill to 100 skill in a single night of playing

Saw this formula in the "Magic Skill Levelling Fixed" mod by user Magefaer. Incase it's helpful: Skill XP gain = (SpellBaseCost * [School]ExpCastMult) + [School]UseValues (See the mod page for more details)

Make an atronach sign build with telekinesis in your spells so that you can’t complain about the magicka not recharging.
