This insistence actually becomes really really heartless in retrospect. Her dead father gave her that book and Camilla was just going to let her toss it out. That is incredibly cruel. I’m surprised Luz wasn’t more insistent on getting it back in the first episode. This looks like an almost subtle retcon to me. Neither of them treat the book as a keepsake this screams retcon to me.

It could be a different copy. She might have two to try and keep the one gifted to her in good condition. That's the best I can do for a reasonable explanation.
