So Stella actually agreed to let them experiment on her adopted daughter? I wonder if Stella was one of the scientists involved in the living toy experiments. And for some reason, she had deep feelings for Kissy so she adopted her but still couldn't avoid being used as a test subject. It was like a compulsion and Stella didn't want that.
