The biggest One Piece youtuber just released a video on the worldwide phenomenon of the flag being used in various revolts around the world, such as in Nepal or for Palestine.

It's an "apolitical" analysis, which he admits, as he is not "knowledgeable" about politics. But as usual, "apolitical" means dampening the sharpness of any contradiction in class society, and in this case, the revolutionary sharpness of this piece of art's message and its related real world use.

@geckko7659

I dont understand how someone could even begin to approach an analysis of one piece "apolitically". the whole point and spirit of the show is revolution against an overpowering oppressive global form of government.

What, does the real world need a bunch of Sogekings to burn government flags for these idiots to get it? Actually, even if that was happening they still find some way to weasel out of the realization.

I have less than a basic understanding of one piece It's been fascinating watching these guys doing their best to avoid real political analysis and comparison

Reminds me of the podcast „trash taste“, it’s pretty popular within the community. They had a guest who talked about one piece and resistance and israil. They pushed him away, saying they don’t want to be political and claimed one piece was apolitical. At the same time, they claimed what a deep and good story one piece was and how complex it is, while Platforming PewDiePie, a known fascist, racist and antisemite. Even if one piece isn’t that deep, using the flag as sign for YOUR resistance already gives it more than enough meaning imho.

Nepal's """uprising""" was orchestrated by Washington-- the real target is China. Don't be fooled by manufactured "colour revolutions".

Literally the entire point of One Piece is about being a revolution against the established order that overthrows tyrants. It is as political as something could possibly be. It doesnʼt depict every government as needing to be overthrown, just bad tyrannical ones, although that does include governments of a clear majority of countries along with the entire World Government, too. It depicts a world ruled by corrupt ruling elites who treat everyone else as inferior and disposable, a fundamentally unjust world. Basically the same as our real world in that regard. The World Government is a vast alliance of most nations on Earth that violates the national sovereignty of all its member nations except the one superpower, the Holy Land of Mary Geoise. Now, the United States leads a worldwide alliance of most countries in the real world, and one of these, Israel, gets called the Holy Land and treats the Palestinian people as less than human. The political parallels of this to a critique of the American empire are blatantly obvious to everyone except those in the United States with no awareness that such an empire exists, but people in countries like Japan are painfully aware that their governments are subservient to their masters in Washington, D.C. who give them orders they obediently carry out regardless of public opinion in their own countries. And Japan just has a single ruling party that wins every election and is corrupt and buys out the opposition parties and bribes their leaders into losing elections on purpose in exchange for personal financial gain. One Piece is a comprehensive critique of the entire global political system in the real world. And it depicts pretty much all countries as monarchies with ruling families instead of democracies because the critique is, that is basically how most so-called democracies function in practice. People being greedy and willing to do anything for money is a critique of capitalism, as is all the depictions of inequality and people being exploited in One Piece. Anyone who seriously argues One Piece is apolitical either is unfamiliar with it or lacks basic reasoning abilities.

IDK if the flag is organic but I'm sure it'll be used by west when subverting nation's. Fist on flag has been used up and people are suspicious of any protesters wearing that symbol.

(I've never watched the anime so I can't say much on it but) I will say... that it is interesting how most of these Onepiece 'fans' who do not understand the core message of the show (or anime on general) and go online to do video essay showing how they missed the point are.... not POC. Though I could make the case how currently, the youths of Nepal and Palestine (and Indonesia) grew up under corrupt governments that can and will sell their own people out. So when they watch shows/animes like One Piece, they can connect the dots (and have the balls to stand up). It could be a case of how these (lowkey racist) white anitubers are just a loud minority but it is interesting to see in real time Edit: spelling

"Apolitical" is just the polite word for "ignorant and too lazy to correct this" and if it were just like, what the stats are for the latest crop of pro sports players in X sport are, sure--that would be something we as a species could perhaps survive with the general state of interest and knowledge in the population writ large being zero or near zero--but when the subject is something as trivial as "the entire way your society determines the hierarchy of values for setting the actual rights people have that get enforced, how resources are made and distributed, etc." MAYBE it would BEHOOVE us to show some goddamn interest, if not for the sake of OTHERS, then for OUR OWN SAKE'S at the VERY least.

Nepal already installed a pro-West lib as interim PM, the whole thing was a farce.

You can literally take out the pirate aspect of one piece and you will still get one piece because of how political the anime is. In real world, we have the alliance of world government 'US, Europe, and Israel as their chosen people ie Tenryubito"
