Blue Glimpser

Hiromi remembering Anthony Jackson : "Anthony, it is very hard for me to put it into words, because nothing I can say will be enough to express my love and respect towards you, but I feel it is my duty to share some memories for your fans since you were very shy in public.

I don’t need to talk about your music, because everyone knows you are one and only, and your music will be with us eternally.

I still want to talk about your musicianship though. What I respected the most about you is, you always gave everything you had at every show, no matter the size of the show, attendance, none of that mattered, just music, always music, putting your soul in every note in every single show. I’ve never seen anyone who cleans their instrument that much, every show, detailed cleaning. Pure love toward the instrument, ultimate commitment to his tone.

On the personal side, Anthony loved aircrafts, he knew every model number of aircraft, he was such a geek! When there was an aircraft model that he liked the sound of the engine, he would always come to my seat to tell me to listen to the sound carefully. He loved ham radio, we went to Akihabara (biggest Japanese electronic town) to find the radio wave machine, I had no clue what it was at the time. He was such a historian as well, he knew about every historic event exactly where and when, year by year, we didn’t need AI, we could just ask Anthony, he was Anthonikipedia. I still remember the moment we got to sit next to Jack Bruce in the restaurant in Lugano, he was so excited like a little boy. He loved Italian food, green tea, sushi, always so chatty, we always had a great laugh together (even last week!), so humorous, sometimes stubborn but super pure and loving.

I love you so much and I miss you already, I wish I could say “on contrabass guitar, Anthony Jackson” once again.
Thank you for everything you gave me, and to the world. Your music will stay with us forever, and I will keep carrying your spirit." (Hiromi on her instagram post) www.instagram.com/p/DQFrTsfkiIn/?utm_source=ig_web…

Rest in peace Mr. Anthony Jackson. The first time I heard Anthony was listening to Dave Weckl Hard Wired. A song that has inspired me so much since then. Also all his work with Michel Camilo, Lee Ritenour and specially with Hiromi . What a ride! Thank you for everything Mr Jackson!
