I love these reenactment videos! It really brings historical figures to life as real people, not just names and dates.

I listened to this 4 days ago. Did not realize the anniversary was today. Cool! Awesome channel, Mr. Hicks. From one MP and history nut to another.

The thing is follows: though England defeated Spain at sea in 1588, it lost the war which continued through 1604. England did not obtain Spanish colonies, despite its goals, and finished the conflict completely devastated. And by the way, in 1589 Spain delivered a severe blow to England when Spaniards defeated so called Anti-Armada.

🇬🇧 How much better off would Britain be today if they'd welcomed the Spanish Armada during the reign of Elizabeth I and kept out the Jahadist Armada during the reign of Elizabeth II and Charles III?

On this day in 1588 — The English fleet met the mighty Spanish Armada.
To mark the anniversary, step aboard the Golden Hind and relive the clash through my eyes as an Elizabethan sailor who sailed with Sir Francis Drake himself. Salt spray, cannon fire, and courage in the face of a vast invasion fleet... Watch the story unfold in a video we made more than 20 years ago for the examination board OCR, long before we started on YouTube.
