My 1996 48 hp 2-stroke burns less than 2 gal/hr and I rarely spend over $200/yr in maintenance. I'll never scrap it.

Overseas, you can still buy 2 stroke Yamahas brand new theyre called Enduro and are basically a duplicate of the simple dependable Yamahas of the early 2000s.

Had a 5 hp Suzuki two-stroke for years that was great. sold that to get a 4 hp two-stroke Suzuki from 1996 super-Compact and light, love them.

I’m gonna build a boat that’s powered by burning tires mixed with coal. Let’s see how they like that.

Still own my twin 96 johnsons 150 ocean runners, yes super hard to get some parts but gotta be honest they are strong Engines and rarely ever you need to spend money on high maintenance parts in my case, carbs, coil packs, wires, stator.....they just run for ever...and yes 4strokes would be great if the prices would be reasonable but at this day and age you can buy a new car by the time ur done buying 1 4stroke engine...with that said I don't ever really see my self getting rid of my oil burners any time soon.

Yea they are. Dealers especially Suzuki are gonna start cracking down on scrapping the old 2 strokes when you come in to trade it in. They want them gone. 2 strokes are still very big in a lot of areas like in mine where it’s just lakes and rivers. Just not the oceans anymore where the 4 strokes shine

Ive got a question on my Yamaha 2 stroke. Starts pretty easy and then I leave the boat ramp and it feels like half power (not in limp mode). I stop, shut the motor off for a few seconds and turn it back on and it runs fine for the rest of the day at full power. Any idea what’s going on?
