Your Dinosaurs Are Wrong

HELP NEEDED! The St George Dinosaur Discovery Site in Utah finds itself needing to do emergency specimen salvage work before one of their sites is taken over by an electrical substation that will not be relocated. We're trying to help get the word out. They are looking for any help they can get recovering the fossils before it becomes impossible. Power tools, volunteers, donations, etc. Any and all help is appreciated. Links in the comments!

Commenting for the algorithm, but also: It is infuriating that utility companies can keep charging customers for these new facilities so electricity bills stay high, while not being required to maintain existing equipment when failing power infrastructure like eroded power lines is how lots of forest fires start. I get that people need electricity but it shouldn't come at the cost of safety, and ideally, not at the cost of science either.

I'm a resident of St. George and can confirm. The uncovered track way is one of the largest sites in the world, with walking tracks, swim tracks, and even a Dino butt print, with at least three distinct species present in a super small area. It's unique and special, and there's probably more next door. The city is usually great for endorsing museums and research on our dinos (the shopping complex nearby is literally named dinosaur crossing for the track way), but there's a lack of manpower. For some reason, despite all kinds of fossils in spitting distance, possibly the largest laccolith in the world, the grand staircase sequence, and all around amazing rocks, the local university does not have a geology program. 🤷 Come to St. George, enjoy our bountiful, beautiful rocks! And preserve dino tracks! The weather is also absolutely ideal right now

I've done a bit of field work, with J. Jacene! If I could, I would be out there in a heartbeat, but I broke my spine on an expedition a few years ago. I don't hardly have the funds for getting out there, from not being able to work. I wish you all the best of luck getting things outta there in time, I'll try to share this around. 😭

Thanks so much for spreading the word! I've been working at the site and we've already found some amazing fossils!

Why can’t the substation be relocated? That’s what I would fight. Wish I had the money to help. So, this comment is for the algorithm..

Commenting for the algorithm - get the word out! My husband and I would love it soo much to be on site and help, even if it was just making coffee and sandwiches! But we're from germany, so we have absolutely no chance to come.

Mostly boosting the algorithm here, since I'm nowhere breaking and don't have the funds to do something like this, and unfortunately don't have the funds to donate either. I wish I was local, I would have loved to see if I could help. But hopefully other creators will also boost this and we can get a lot preserved, or make an uproar about the substation location.

This is really sweet of you to shout this out, thank you for letting people know. I don't live in America but I hope my added comment boosts this to people who do! 🤞
