Today, Venerable Siri Samanthabhadra Thero visited the Padmanatha Swami Hindu Temple in Thiruvanathapuram (India) which is considered the wealthiest Kovil in the world.
While being one of India’s most ancient Vishnu temples, with a net worth exceeding 22 billion USD, this creation demonstrates the uniqueness of both Kerala and Tamil architecture to the world.
The Sri Padmanatha Swami temple became world famous after the discovery of an enormous treasure in its underground vaults following a court order in 2011. However, “Vault B” of the six vaults named A to F is yet to be opened. It has been decided not to open Vault B due to both fearful respect and the opposition of the clergy and governing body based on their traditional beliefs.
Tens of thousands of people visit the temple each day to witness and receive blessings at the main statue depicting Lord Vishnu lying on a bed of snakes.
