There is jazz and then there is smooth jazz. Most jazz snobs would scoff at smooth jazz as lounge music. But to be honest jazz went too far into obscure theory and chord voicings to where a non-musicians cant even detect the original melody anymore. For those who dont know, bebop jazz is built on top of a simple melody.
