Well, well, well… he has arrived. Tommy Gainey turned 50 yesterday and will be making his first PGA Champions Tour start tomorrow at the Rogers Charity Classic in Calgary, Alberta after Monday qualifying with a 65! He’s made three of four cuts on the PGA Tour this year, finished 52nd in the Korn Ferry Tour last year, finished T-19 at PGA Tour Q-School finals last year, and at 674th in the OWGR, is the fourth highest in the Official World Golf Rankings on the PGA Champions Tour behind Padraig Harrington, Richard Bland, and Stewart Cink.
Tommy, it’s been a hell of a ride so far. You’ve accomplished 100 PGA Tour made cuts, a win in 2012, and have given countless golfers across the world hope and encouragement that they can play well with an ugly swing. We all can’t wait to see what you do next! Go get ‘em, man! Make it one and done in that winners circle this Sunday!
