Official George Carlin

Jammin' in New York was George Carlin's 14th album, eighth HBO special and his personal favorite. Recorded on April 24 and 25, 1992, at the Paramount Theater in New York City, the album won the 1993 Grammy Award for Best Spoken Comedy Album.

Before the opening credits, "This show is for SAM" appear, a reference to comedian Sam Kinison, who had died in a car crash two weeks prior. Check out our Jammin' in New York playlist: youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2...

There was a time when I could recite this entire album by memory, and even today large swathes of it are still embedded in my brain. Rarely does a day go by where George's wisdom and humor doesn't pop up at some point.

My favorite special, too. I always listen to “Airline Announcements” everytime I fly on a plane

Carlin is so missed. Can you imagine the stand up from this genius in 2025? 💯

I heard it when it came out and it's my favorite too. The Gulf war piece is just about perfect. And Golf courses and manhood problems and earth problems. The album was a gift from the Big Electron!

I have George's box set of every TV appearance and HBO special. I wish he was alive today to see all the stuff he was right about.

George himself admitted it was his favorite special he ever did, and it's easy to hear why. It's the fully formed Genesis of a man whose theologies and timing collided into a special that, whole 33 years old, is as timeless as ever that gains fans every day.

It's those sudden unscheduled cornfield and housing development stops that seem to interrupt the flow of my day.

I turned 6 yrs old April 1992. Carlin was my fav comedian. I grew up watching stand up comedians. My parents didn't give a shit, Russel Simmons, hbo, George Carlin, kinison, Pryor, I got to see all of that growing up. I loved it.

I remember listening to one of his albums on headphones while I worked. I got in trouble because I laughed so hard! R.I.P. George.
