Congratulations on the interview with PM Dr. Andrew Holness 👏🏾 What an honor bestowed on a man who is uplifting and promoting the Jamaican island/culture, and the many people contributing to Jamaica’s growth/success. You are giving Jamaica 🇯🇲 a positive voice through your podcast/YouTube. Also, Negril is gaining some notoriety and the many businesses, such as your Travellers Beachfront Resort. On Sunday I had the distinct honor of hosting the Most Honorable Prime Minister of Jamaica, Dr. Andrew Holness on my podcast. As you might imagine, he’s been a dream guest of mine for quite some time. This was a huge milestone for me, my team, and my family
With the Prime Minister’s busy schedule, I was originally told I’d have 30 minutes. We ended up going for over an hour and a half. It was an amazing conversation to say the least. We spoke about Jamaica’s journey, especially from a financial and economic standpoint. What was once a weakness is now becoming a strength. We talked about the country’s future, and of course, I had to ask about Negril, its role in national development and what’s to come. We also spoke about the pivotal role the Jamaican diaspora plays in shaping our nation (come home!)
What I didn’t expect to learn: the Prime Minister is a creative himself. He used to be a Canon shooter and is now a Sony shooter, just like me. He’s well-versed in the DJI ecosystem, drones and all. I was genuinely impressed. I also came away with a deeper appreciation for how intimately he understands the Jamaican electorate as it stands today. That part of our conversation was really fascinating
And before leaving, he took the time to greet our NEET students who are heading to Japan in less than two weeks to represent Jamaica at the World Expo in Osaka. That moment meant a lot to all of us especially the kids.
Big thank you to my brothers, Winfield and Wingate, and to my Dad for their support and for helping me prepare for this moment. Thanks to the Travellers team for ensuring the PM and his team felt welcomed and cared for. And a special thank you to the Throp Media team for stepping up in a major way to make this happen. Shoutout to Westmoreland’s very own Discovery Water for supporting this podcast. We both enjoyed the water
And finally, thank you to Prime Minister Holness for taking time out of an incredibly full schedule to sit down and talk. It was a wide-ranging, meaningful conversation that I can’t wait to share with all of you
