Depends on the specie of the black bear..african lion would take down small ones such as sun bear,sloth bear and etc but the lion would struggle and lose to american or asian large black bears

Lion: Probably the best option all around, in lots of regards they're just better than the bear. The bear is likely to run away after it realizes the fight isn't going as planned. I'm giving the lion 5/5 stars seeing as I'm betting a lion with human level IQ would fold anything of a similar weight class. Alligator: On land the alligator might be a little sluggish but you should still be able to whip around and bite the bear if it tries to circle you. And even if it's a bold bear then you may be able to trick it into following you towards the water. I'm gonna give the alligator 4/5 stars seeing as the portion of the fight on land would likely get pretty nerve racking. Jaguar: You might still be able to fight the bear off as a jaguar but it's pretty likely you'll be way smaller and thus the most vulnerable to its attacks in this form, as well I'm pretty sure that if you try to get into grappling with the bear so you can bite it is a bad idea. I'm giving the jaguar a 3/5 seeing as its gonna take the most skill out of them all to win, and it's also just a worse version of the lion. Gigantopithicus: The only real con for the gigantopithicus is that it has anthropoid skin, which is heavily negated when you remember that it's a 1000 pound animal. So, durability wouldn't be that big of an issue unless we're going up against literally some of the largest black bears ever recorded. In terms of offense you're not the best off however this is the only option who could fairly easily grapple with the bear due to the sheer advantage in size (and having thumbs even if they're likely worse than human ones porortionaly). I'm gonna give the gigantopithicus 5/5 since the bear would likely run away on sight and even if it didn't would soon change it's mind once it starts getting manhandled.

Id be most familiar with the Artillery or Gigantopithecus. But the Lion surely has the best chance here.

All of these lose besides lion and maybe giganto but that thing is ugly asf so id rather much be a lion by a landslide

Literally every one of these animals except for the Jaguar The Pantanal Jaguar male average is over 250 pounds The average Black Bear is around 300-350 Pounds so the bear might win this But the Gigantopithecus, Lion And Alligator would Take Down the Bear Not to mention they all outweigh The Bear African Lion>Black Bear Low Mid DIff Giganthopetecus> Black Bear Mid Dif American Alligator> Black Bear Mid Dif
