Rant: Toffee From Star vs The Forces of Evil had Wasted Potential
Review: he is a very good intimidating villain of the series, but so he is so confusing as a motivational villain to me. if they would’ve gave Toffee more lore and development, they would’ve kept him alive. when he was first introduced in season 1, Toffee looks very cool, calm and intelligent than the others. he kicked Ludo out and becomes the new and better leader which was so well done. sometimes he’s pretty humorous, even though he is a monster, he does act like a human, and that scene where he declines pillows was hilarious. I also like his voice, it’s very soft and often intimidating. and his design is very different than the other monsters. now, here are my problems. they hardly ever explore Toffee’s motives and his views of all that deep when they could have. pretty much we all remember him because the utter tone of shift he gave from the show, and his presence literally changed up the format by addressing the butterfly family and what they did to monsters and monster kind. also how did Toffee about Ludo had a phobia about beards in season 1? there’s also a scene where he treated blue fly with fondness but after he kicked out Ludo, he treats the fly like a pest for some reason, what kind of a switch up is that? this guy also pretty much had the implications of a connection to Marco and being directed by monster massacre. we barely ever seen his goals to be set up and views, if the book of spells literally had the perfect backstory for this guy to set up all of his goals if we had seen all of it. we would’ve seen more of his backstory but we don’t. he is still interesting to me because he is mysterious. at the very end of the series, I don’t like how he dies very easily, he’s just gone, not even a singular mention. if he died this early, we don’t know what more of his motivation is.
Conclusion: he went from a very great villain to wasted potential. the show feels way too rushed to explore his character, motivations, and his backstory
