Strongly agree with this. It’s so important to have a balance of studies and creating art for personal enjoyment. From personal experience of prioritizing studies and art school work above all else, art had become so focused on technicalities and quality output, not to say there aren’t benefits or enjoyment to be found in that, but my ability to draw on my own creativity and imagination stagnated or even declined. All of which culminated into its own sort of art block or rut once I graduated and had to look to myself for creative direction.

Make time for projects where the outcome does not matter. You don't always have to do art that involves learning or growth. Have projects where you just follow your creativity and curiosity.
It's not always about making progress or levelling up. These matter, but they're not everything. Spend time just making art and see where it goes. Experiment, play, and have some fun!
(You can always go back to your studies later!)
