As someone who was a Bboy since childhood, it meant alot to me to see it in the Olympics this year and would love to see it again. But I don’t want to be biased— I wanna know your opinion as to why it should or shouldn’t be in the Olympics again.

80s child here-- breakdancing, popping, locking were huge parts of my childhood. But, the judging is much too subjective. There should be another competition for it, but not in Olympics.

They should make a poll for "unorthodox athletic events" with things like breaking, chess boxing, aquathlon, ..... and choose one or two of them for each year Spread awareness for interesting sports ( or just fun physical events ) and keep things fresh

I mean i love to watch break dancing but as an olympic sport.. nahhh. No offense because they are just as athletic as most olympians, its just that its an art form that most do not understand like choreographed swimming.

Softball and baseball make more sense to bring back to the Olympics than Breaking. How many people are breaking since the 1990's‽ Parkour would have made more sense for France; not dancing.

As a Bboy, I honestly think it's one of those things where you just gotta improve on it and see where it goes. Take skateboarding for example, it's kind of an extreme sport and one that's incredibly hard to judge, as there's so many things that you can do, but along with that, there's also preset moves and things that you can do and can be judged and compared between competitors. Despite all that, it's (skateboarding) being added permanently to the Olympic roster in 2028. I think since most people are unaware or just never really learned much about breaking, they're kind of against it and see it as being just a sort of novelty. Breaking being a sport in the Olympics definitely needs work to be done on it, in both judging and participant systems, but I personally believe that if it's given a chance, the world can see just what an incredible sport and artform that it is. The way I see it, breaking is an Olympic level sport. Not all things start out perfect, after all.

RayGun’s breakdancing performance was fantastic. I definitely think they should keep it😂

Thank you for putting an indifferent option. It's always annoying to sway results just so i can see them.

I think they should keep it just so more people around the world will see it and explore it. Even if the Olympians are giving us a watered-down version, once people know about it, then they can go down the rabbit hole if they want to

Only if they bring back Raygun, the greatest breakdancer in history. Watching raygun perform was absolutely breathtaking. The way she rolled on the floor was absolutely majestic.

As somebody who recently started dancing, I loved seeing breaking at the Olympics and I absolutely think it should return. For one, breakers are just as athletic as athletes in any traditional sport, and considering the inherently competitive nature of breaking, those at the top of the scene deserve to have a chance at an Olympic medal just as much as any other athlete does. But aside from that, I agree that breaking and dance in general are more subjective than, say, track and field, but I don't think that should preclude them from being a part of the Olympics. Dance battles have always been an important part of street dance and there are already widely recognized international breaking competitions. The breaking community clearly has settled on a system of competition that they are satisfied with and that they believe will, on average, put the best dancers on top, even considering the subjectivity of dance as an art. If the breaking community is in consensus that the judging system is fair.....who else's opinion actually matters? It's not like an average layperson watching the Olympics will be able to figure out who the best bboy or bgirl is any better than they would be able to judge who the best gymnast is, assuming they have no knowledge of either sports. As long as the breaking community believes the Olympics judging system to be fair, and whoever wins at the Olympics deserves their medals, the degree of subjectivity doesn't matter. I honestly don't know why people put so much emphasis on needing total objectivity for a sport to qualify for the Olympics, and if somebody could give an argument for why a sport needs to be completely objective (i.e., ping pong or track and field) and why sports, like breaking, that have room for subjectivity but can still be fairly judged, do not belong, I would love to hear it.

I think it’s a good idea. I don’t usually watch Olympics anyway, but it is a multi competition event. And breakdancing has been a competition for a while. Most people barely watch the Olympics and even less watch the full thing, so if there is a segment they don’t like they can just change the channel. I think it’s a good addition, it’s been the same it seems for years. Nice to start seeing more new things.

This breaks my heart as a pro dancer that it was taken out and not received well by everyone. Dance has always been art and sport that has never been taken seriously. But despite what people might think, it takes years of athletic training to do what dancers do. It belongs in the olympics.
