In our school (8th grade) we learn and study about how to think for ourselves and and not just believe what you want, or what others tell you, it has changed my life.

If you like space and watches little bit anime i recommend Orb: on the movement of earth this anime made me realise the space knowledge we have right now was like a cruse to those in past and showed no matter what you do to hide the truth it will be out one day by somebody

Watched it when it first came out and it’s definitely my favourite video of yours. Looking forward to watching more history on astronomy

Honestly, the topic’s been a part of my “to watch on YT” list because of an ongoing historical fiction anime called Orb: On The Movements of the Earth It’s about historical Poland when various characters stumble upon researching heliocentrism whilst navigating the ferocious presence of the inquisition While apparently they took a lot of creative liberty with the historical accuracy of how much heliocentrism by itself was persecuted by itself (if not tied with potentially heretical critique of the church), it’s still very interesting to get a glimpse of what people then might’ve studied and believed, like the view that space was the literal domain of the divine/heaven or the surprisingly prevalence of various Classic Greek philosophy, which I’ve only heard brief mention of prior whilst taking a class on it in uni

Based on this description, I don’t think the video will be accurate. Galileo did not discover the heliocentric model of the solar system, he just had the most proof. Also, I’m curious how you portray the Catholic Church because it’s usually not what actually happened

Watched it already and going to watch it the 2nd time. Truly wonderful video. I wonder if its better than Veritasium documentary since he hasnt made any video on Galileo.

Actually he was put under house arrest for teaching heliocentric theory as fact in direct violation of a contract he had signed promising not too. Had he been found guilty of heresy, he would have been burned outright.

Do you know the story of how Galileo was locked up for his discovery that the Universe did not revolve around the Earth? It's one of the most interesting and saddening stories in all of science and one I think more people need to hear!
We made a video about it a few months ago (that didn't do very well) but I genuinely believe it's the best video I have ever uploaded to YouTube! If you haven't already, check it out and let me know what you think:
