Dead to Sin, Alive by the Ruach — Hidden in Mashiach

Beloved Brothers and Sisters, the Scriptures call us to a life that no longer answers to the flesh but submits fully to the leading of the Ruach. This is not a surface-level change, but a death and a resurrection that happens within us.

The apostle writes plainly: “For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Ruach do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live” (Romaiym / Romans 8:13). Life in Alahim requires intentional warfare against the old nature. Mortifying the deeds of the body is not done by human strength, but by yielding daily to the Ruach, allowing Him to put to death what once ruled us.

We are reminded of our true identity: “For ye are dead, and your life is hidden with Mashiach in Alahim” (Qolasiym / Colossians 3:3). The old life no longer defines us. Our true life is concealed in Mashiach—protected, governed, and sustained by Him. What the world sees is not the full story; our life is anchored in the unseen.

Our calling is rooted in Mashiach’s example. “For even hereunto were ye called: because Mashiach also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps” (Kepha Ri’shon / 1 Peter 2:21). He walked in righteousness without sin, without deceit, and without retaliation. “Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to Him that judges righteously” (1 Peter 2:23). This is the pattern of those who have truly died to self.

Scripture declares the purpose of His suffering: “Who His own self bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed” (1 Peter 2:24). Healing, righteousness, and freedom are not abstract ideas—they are the fruit of dying to sin and living unto Alahim.

The question confronts us directly: “Let it not be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it?” (Romiyim / Romans 6:2, TS2009). Death to sin means separation from its authority. We cannot claim resurrection life while clinging to what Mashiach put to death.

From the beginning, Alahim made His will known: “If you do well, shall you not be accepted? And if you do not well, sin lies at the door. And unto you shall be his desire, and you shall rule over him” (Bere’shiyth / Genesis 4:7). Sin seeks mastery, but Alahim declares that we are to rule over it—not by compromise, but by obedience.

And we are given this assurance: “For sin shall not rule over you, for you are not under the law but under favour” (Romiyim / Romans 6:14, TS2009). Favour does not excuse sin; it empowers victory. Under Alahim’s favour, sin no longer has dominion because we now live by the Ruach.

Brothers and Sisters, we have died with Mashiach. Let us also live like it—crucifying the flesh, walking in humility, and following His steps in righteousness. Our life is hidden, our authority is restored, and our freedom is real.
