These cones are most likely seals. They don’t look like the pine cone in the hands at all

Pinecones are representative of pineal glands. The cones are seals of office.

Maybe it was an ancient drinking game? They stand all of them up, and friends take turns picking them up and reading the bottom that has silly instructions like "kiss the person next to you or take 2 drinks" ?

1) there were no pine trees in Sumarian mesopotamia. They were imported from Turkey and used in art symbolising new life and purification. 2) The pineal when dissected from the brain, bears a resemblance to an eye, likely due to its evolutionary conservation of photoreceptive functions. It looks f*ck all like a pine cone. 3) There is no evidence of Sumerian anatomical knowledge of the pineal gland. Sorry to burst the bubble.
