im using duolingo as main main JP learning source for 3,5 months now, and yes it has awkward sentences, but it uses the right amount of repetition and context for me to actually learn the words, and that is the basis for everything.

I had trouble learning Japanese on Duolingo. They threw grammar and words at me like I already knew them. I had to figure out the rules myself which was slow. Eventually I found Busuu which I think is better. I learned more much faster

From my experience duolingo was great for learning hiragana and katakana but after that I moved to grammar books and the kanji study app.

I used doulingo as my main for a few weeks and learnt a few words. I noticed though I couldn't actually read Japanese nor recognize hiragana/katakana. So I've left it for now, I was able to read hiragana in a few hours and currently learning katakana without doulingo now

What about the Lingodeer course though? I'm not relying solely on them, but it would be good to know if there any mistakes there because I don't know much to judge it

I used to learn Japanese w/ Duolingo alongside Japanesepod101. When I compared some of the words I learned from Duolingo on how it's pronounced with Japanesepod101, I was confused because Duolingo's pronunciation and Japanesepo101's pronunciation were different.

I think the not having native speakers makes it an instant no. You'll just fall into the garbage in garbage out problem.

I think you defeinetly should recommend Duolingo Yuta because I've been learning extra Japanese on Duoliongo since April 2020 and my Mother has been learning French on it for a long time.
