The word is out- we are officially moving BACK to California in June!
Ever since I left San Diego in 2017- pregnant with Ella and moving for Brian’s final stretch in the Navy in Pensacola, I figured we would one day return.
I moved out there from Maryland with my little sister in 2008.. during that totally boring recession 🙄 We were both college grads, yet spent the first 5 years struggling with the other young people in Pacific Beach to survive, pay crazy rent, and live the California dream.
Rather than ever getting a ‘real’ job on the west coast I built small businesses, worked odd jobs in modeling, marketing and photography, and eventually learned that I didn’t need a real job. Thanks recession!
I did end up with a full-time job eventually, but with a company on the east coast. This further fueled my location-independent lifestyle of travel and freedom. It also led to starting my YouTube channel with the help and inspiration of @jonmiller!
I adore California because it’s full of crazy people with big dreams. Rarely will you meet someone living in the coastal cities who hasn’t been around the world, and fought hard to make a life in a highly competitive area. My favorites are the east coasters who keep their edge, but soften it a bit with west coast living. Of course, the Navy pilots out there aren’t bad either.
Brian and I had some wild times in San Diego before he left for Italy, Bahrain, and eventually circled back around to scoop me up. This time will be very different (and much easier) but I hope that we can introduce Ella to some exciting new things and expand her world immensely!
We will absolutely miss Pensacola, our chill little beach town on the gorgeous gulf coast of Florida. I am trying to soak it all in before I leave, while battling the absolute chaos of moving. I will post updates when I can!
And most importantly, stay tuned for a solid look at a new vlogging camera I’ve been exploring 📸 Hopefully coming next week!
